Lieutenant-Colonel David Burbridge has served as an Engineering Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces since 2000.
In June 2024, he was posted as the Deputy Director Personnel Management for the Canadian Army.
From 2020-2024, he served within CF Real Property Operations Group, a formation within Assistant Deputy Minister (Infrastructure and Environment) having responsibilities for maintenance and repair, minor new construction (up to $10M), property management, environmental compliance, Indigenous consultation, and energy management for defence real property. During his first three years of this period, he was the Commanding Officer of Real Property Operations Unit (Pacific), the unit responsible for defence real property in the province of British Columbia. His final year in CF Real Property Operations Group was as Deputy Commander, the second-in-command of this cross-national formation.
From 2016-2020, he was posted to NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) as Staff Officer (Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency). His duties included policy and standards development, operations planning support, capability development, and training. He served as the Chairman of the Allied Command Operations (ACO) Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Working Group, and was the lead ACO representative to the NATO Environmental Protection Working Group.
He is a graduate of the Canadian Army Command and Staff College as well as the Canadian Forces Joint Command and Staff College. He holds a BSc in Theoretical Physics, an MSc in Environmental Science, a Master of Public Administration, and a Master of Defence Studies.
